Last month I experimented for the first time with a way to make money online that I had never really experimented with before: selling information.
My plan was fairly simple in that I was just going to wrap up a technique I had already proven to work, and find others who would pay for that information. I never originally imagined the kind of response I would eventually receive.
Knowing that marketing is everything, I put the book together pretty quickly and spent more time on writing the sales letter and contacting people than actually creating the book itself. I had already been using the technique so the book was written without any immediate research (all had been done previously) and didnt take me but a few hours.
My First Experience With Acrobat
I launched Adobe Acrobat only to be disappointed with the steep learning curve. It wasnt difficult to create a basic layout but when I wanted to manipulate text and images it really started giving me a headache. I closed everything down and opened up my favorite HTML editor to finish the book. After all, who said an e-book has to be in .PDF format? Acrobat isnt by any means undefeatable, and if I really wanted to I couldve taken a few tutorials on Acrobat and pushed through but I was in a hurry.
I put the book together with easy to read text on a nice design with a few screenshots spread throughout. I quickly Proof-read it for any errors and touched up a few areas before zipping it up and uploading it to my server.
Marketing Your E-Book
There are several active forums with audiences just waiting to be sold to. I chose DigitalPoint to start with and started typing out my sales letter in their Buy, Sell, Trade section. The forum is free to post in and other than it being fairly strict with regulations (bumping, etc) its actually a very active community with nice people overall.
I chose a price that seemed fair and held a bit of significance with the sales letter itself. My first buyer made $41.00 their very first day of applying the knowledge so I made the the cost of the book $41.00. Anything lower and youre making your book seem unworthy, and anything more might make a high percentage of your viewers look at other threads before purchasing.
